2015 Assessment Schedule

JCEA is a way to prepare students in Years 9 and 10 for NCEA in  their senior years. Students must gain 80 credits over the year from all their subjects. Students in both the Year 9 and 10 class must gain 40 credits in IST this year. The assessment schedules below show what each assessment is and how much each assessment is worth. Students are given every opportunity to be successful and gain credits in my class.

WRITING PORTFOLIO (To cover) Creative Writing Formal Writing/Letter Writing Poetry Writing Report Writing	3 3 3 3	All assessments will be over time and meet the needs of individual students	Formative Assessment Students must have the opportunity to draft, craft and complete a final best copy Final copy may be completed using the computer Students should seek teacher assistance for feedback and feed forward Students will have scaffolded frameworks and exemplars
READING (To cover) Reading Comprehension Reading Logs Research	3 4 3		Based on both Formative and Summative Assessment. Students can seek and be given ongoing support Students will have frameworks and exemplars
Individual Reading Mileage  - assessments on reading age updated twice a year
STATIC IMAGE PORTFOLIO Book Cover Poster Power Point / Brochure	6 (3 x 2 credits)		Students may to given support Exemplars used
SOCIAL STUDIES SKILLS a) Mapping b) Timelines c) Graphs (Drawing and Interpreting)	6		Skills will be taught and practised
AURAL LANGUAGE Presentation Speech	6 (2 x 3 credits)		Students will have informal and more formal opportunities
